Guess what day it is?! It’s the kickoff of the Lunar New Year Celebration at Disney California Adventure!

Let’s gooooo!

This year, the celebration runs from January 20th through February 13th and it’s celebrating the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac calendar and the Year of the Cat in the Vietnamese zodiac calendar. We’re ready to dive into all the celebrations, including merchandise, food, and entertainment…so let’s go!

Welcome to the Lunar New Year Celebration! California Adventure gets some stunning decorations for this festival, and we couldn’t resist snapping some photos on our way inside.

As you enter, they’ve got signs up explaining how families celebrate Lunar New Year in Vietnamese…

Once we headed inside, we found that we’re not the only ones ready to celebrate! There were quite a few people around the entrance ready to get started with this exciting day.

Now that we’ve got the basics down, let’s get this party started!

Food Booths

Now it’s time to EAT! There are six different food booths at this year’s festival, including some brand new options. We can’t wait to try out these eats and drinks!

Bamboo Blessings

Who’s ready for a NEW booth?! Bamboo Blessings is making its premiere at the Lunar New Year Celebration in 2023, and we’re picking up two of the items on the menu. First is the Lucky Flight with Tsingtao Brewery, Young Master Brewery, Stereo Brewing Co., and Three Weavers Brewery for $17.50.

There’s also this Mickey Mouse-shaped Hot Dog Bun! It’s made with brioche-style Mickey Mouse-shaped buns stuffed with hot dog and finished with sesame seeds and scallions for $7.50.

Wrapped With Love

Another new booth this year is Wrapped With Love, and there are quite a few things we want to try on the menu!

The new Pork and Shrimp Wontons come with a black garlic sauce and can be purchased for $8.75.

We’ve also got a new Bok Choy & Mushroom Dumpling with a black garlic sauce. This one is $8.75 as well.

If you’re looking for something to drink, you can pick up the Pineapple Baijiu co*cktail or the Grapefruit-Melon Wine co*cktail. They also sell a Lotus Flower Glow Cube here for $6.25.

Longevity Noodle Co.

Longevity Noodle Co. is back for another year, and we’ve got a new drink to try out! This year, they have the Raspberry Oat Milk Tea. It’s made with Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. Ceylon Tea, raspberry and demerara syrups, and oat milk garnished with skewered raspberries.

Lucky 8 Lantern

Say hello to Lucky 8 Lantern!

This year, there are two new food items and one drink that we’d like to check out – starting with the Quesabirria Eggroll with Guajillo pepper consommé filled with Oaxaca cheese, beef birria, and a side of guajillo pepper consommé. Pick this up for $9.

VERY tasty!

For dessert, you might want to try the Mandarin Mousse Cake. It has layers of mandarin mousse with vanilla cake and clementine compote finished with white chocolate crunch balls and a tangerine glaze. Doesn’t that sound delicious? It’s $6.25.

It’s so pretty!

And finally, there’s the drink. This Coconut-Lavender Matcha Foam Iced Coffee is made with Joffrey’s Coffee & Tea Co. French Bistro Blend, coconut milk, coconut cream, and white chocolate sauce garnished with lavender matcha, coconut foam, sea salt, and purple sanding sugar.

Prosperity Bao & Buns

Prosperity Bao & Buns has one new item that really piqued our interest – the Pepperoni Pizza Bao Bun!

It’s served with marinara sauce and you can order it for $9. Looks delish!

Red Dragon Spice Traders

Red Dragon Spice Traders is another booth that has quite a few new items this year. First there’s the Gochujang Elote made with steamed corn on the cob rolled in gochujang aїoli and cotija cheese drizzled with spicy gochujang sauce. It’s priced at $7.50.

The Red Spice Fried Chicken Bites are fried chicken chicharrones in spicy red chile sauce. Now THAT sounds interesting! Order them for $8.75.

There were also two drinks of interest on the menu – the Guava Ginger Whiskey co*cktail (made with whiskey, ginger liqueur, guava nectar, coconut cream, and lime juice garnished with a lime wheel)…

…and the Dancing Firecracker (made with pineapple and lime juices, guava nectar, spicy honey, and house-made hibiscus syrup garnished with a lime wheel).

Over at Pacific Wharf Cafe, we tried theWhite Chocolate Apple Bread Pudding. Just the NAME makes our mouths water!
