1:13Harry Potter Book Auctioned For Over £45K Despite Spelling Errors
Unbranded - unbranded - NewsworthyJK Rowling’s limited edition 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone' book recently sold for a whopping £45,201 in Edinburgh. As most of it was written in the same city, Cathy Marsden, head of books and manuscripts, said it was only "fitting" to hold the event in the capital. Calling it an "exceptionally rare book," she also added that such a limited edition book can be a real "jewel in any Harry Potter collector’s crown." Only 500 copies of the book were printed back in 1997 due to doubts about its sales potential. The book has two prominent spelling errors. The word 'philosopher's' is spelled incorrectly at the bottom half of the cover page. And another on page 53 with ‘1 wand’ printed twice. Described as an ‘excellent copy of the work’, the book was expected to make somewhere between £40,000 and £60,000. Apart from this, a copy of 'Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets' was also sold at the same event for £7,560
