How to Print Mirror Image on HP Printer | Decortweaks (1)

When you’re using a printer, you will usually use it just to get your image or text printed out onto paper. However, there are situations where you may need to go beyond just the basic features, such as modifying an image in some way. One way that a person may modify their printed image is to have it mirrored upon being printed, typically for iron-on transfers. If you are using an HP printer, you may be wondering: how do you even do that?

To print a mirror image for an iron-on transfer, make sure you have the appropriate paper. Select the image you want to print, and then open the ‘Properties’ menu. Click ‘Features’, and on Paper Type, select ‘More’. Select ‘HP Iron-on Transfer’, and then click ‘Advanced’. Select ‘Featured’, then check ‘Mirror Image’.

But can you mirror an image on any other kind of paper? And what do you do if the image is not mirroring?

How to Print Mirror Image on HP Printer:

When printing a mirror image, you can basically use any type of paper you would normally print on normally.

Printing a mirror image on regular paper

To print a mirror image, start the printing process as you normally would. On the printer screen, open thePropertiesmenu, and then click on theFeaturestab. Here, you can do multiple things, including adjusting the size of the printed image. Click theAdvancedoption, and then selectFeatures. Check the option that saysMirror Image. ClickOK, and then clickPrint.

Printing a mirror image on iron-on transfer paper

There are many reasons why you may want to print a mirror image, and one of those is for use with iron-on transfer paper. To set this up, load the iron-on transfer paper into your printer, and then select the image you want to print. On the printer screen, open thePropertiesmenu, and then click theFeaturestab. In this tab, you will see aPaper Typedrop-down list. SelectMore, and then selectHP Iron-on Transferfrom the list.

If you want to adjust the size of the printed image, you can resize it by selecting the appropriate size for your image. Once you’re happy with the size and paper type, clickAdvanced. SelectFeatures, and then check theMirror Imagecheckbox. ClickOK, and then clickPrintto begin printing your image.

Mirror the image for printing with PowerPoint

To do this step, you would either need the file saved on your computer as a JPEG file, or you need to have an HP printer that is able to scan an image.

If the image is not already on your computer, place the image face down on your HP printer’s scanner, and then scan it as a JPEG image file. You can repeat this process for as many images as you like. Once you have the JPEG file ready, open PowerPoint (which is available as part of Microsoft Office Suite). Select theInsertoption on the top menu bar, and then search for the image you want to mirror. Select the image or images, selectInsert, and they will then appear in the PowerPoint file.

Under theFormattab, select theRotateoption, and a drop-down menu will appear. SelectFlip Horizontally, and the image will now be mirrored. Finally, print the image.

Use an image editor or image viewer to mirror the image

If you do not want to mess with the printer settings to mirror an image, the good news is that image mirroring is something you can do on a wide variety of programs and websites. For example, Microsoft Paint, a program that comes with Windows, has a horizontal flip option. Open the image you want to mirror, and all you need to do is select theRotateoption on the top menu (located below theCropandResizeoptions). You also have to be on theHomemenu and not theViewmenu.

When you selectRotate, a drop-down menu will appear. At the bottom there will be the option to mirror the image (Flip Horizontally). Select that, and your image will now be a mirrored version. You can alsoPrintfrom Paint by clicking onFileand thenPrint. To start printing, just select thePrintoption, and you will be good to go.

More advanced programs, such as Photoshop or Gimp, may be slightly more complicated to use, if only because these programs are so feature-rich that they can be a little confusing to navigate if you are not already familiar with them. With Photoshop, open the image, and clickEditin the top menu. SelectTransform, and then selectFlip Horizontal. On Gimp, click on theToolsoption, and then click onTransform Tools. Either click theFlipoption, or useShift + Fto flip. You can use both of these programs to print the image as well.

Another option would be to go to a website dedicated to flipping images. There are multiple image flipping websites online, so pick whichever strikes your fancy.

What to do if the image is not being mirrored when printed

If the image you print is not being mirrored properly, there may be something going wrong with the printer’s software or hardware. In this case, make sure that you get in contact with HP customer support, and they will be more able to troubleshoot your specific printer issues. If there is a problem with the printer, however, you may be able to get it repaired or replaced. If it is a software issue, however, you may have to wait until HP releases an update to your printer model to fix the issue. Such a fix is more likely to happen quickly if it is an issue that is affecting many people.

If the image is not being printed at all, your printer may be out of ink, not connected to your computer, or out of paper.
