Reasons to visit North America and Canada on a cruise holiday

Famous tourist spots (and hidden gems)

On a cruise holiday to North America and Canada you’re bound to spot a famous sight or two as you visit popular filming locations and picture-worthy views. From the buzzing streets of New York that house Rockefeller Center, Times Square and the Empire State Building to the quietly picturesque Peggy’s Cove lighthouse in Halifax in Canada, there are so many unmissable moments to be found across the Atlantic.

Natural beauty

While you can get your fill of soaring skyscrapers and impressive architecture in cosmopolitan cities, sleepy fishing towns, tree-lined squares and thundering waterfalls are also waiting for you elsewhere. You can head off on a 15-mile bike ride to Montmorency Falls in Quebec or climb to the top of Signal Hill in St John’s, Newfoundland to reconnect with natural wonders (and take impressive pictures to show off once you’re home.)

Out-of-this-world entertainment

With an overnight stay in New York, you’ve got so much time to explore what keeps the city so awake. For a night of dance numbers, catchy songs, extravagant costumes and all that jazz, you could take in a Broadway show. You’ll also have lots of time in the Deep South’s most celebrated city, New Orleans. The birthplace of jazz and co*cktails – and the host of the annual Mardi Gras – comes alive at night.

Delicious delicacies

Once you’ve had your fill of American waffles and pancakes (and don’t forget that crispy bacon), there’s so much more for your taste buds to explore. You’ll find tasty local rum in Newfoundland, a variety of local eateries waiting to be enjoyed in Quebec and more ‘Little’ countries than you can count in New York. You’ll even get the chance to sample Canada’s famous maple taffy on snow!
