You may already know I’ve been a long time fan of escape games. I got into the point-and-click original, “Crimson Room” as a teenager, so when we checked ourselves into a red walled room with hyper modern design elements at Qbic London, it triggered a delightfully familiar instinct to solve something. Of course, any mission to dismantle the bedside table or puzzle solve in our hotel room have been pointless, but I thought of it all the same.
Unlike ordinary hotel rooms, every bit of decor in the minimalist rooms has its place. The rooms are simplicity at its quirkiest with bedside holsters for the blow dryers and vibrant headboards that transition gracefully into bathroom. Not to be outdone by the lively surrounds, Qbic London is straight up whimsical.

Sleep
Qbic London is a concept hotel located in East London within Zone 1. The design is imaginative, featuring the contemporary art of emerging designers and a space-efficient floor plan. There are 3 types of rooms available at Qbic: the Smart Room, the Cosy Room, and the Fun Room. Each room has a king sized bed, furnishings by Sander Bokkinga, mood lighting, and an ensuite design bathroom with rain shower and steam free mirrors. Wondering which room type is right for you? The Smart Rooms are the most economical, but without a window. Upgrade to the Cosy Room if you’d like the Qbic experience with street views, or the Fun Room if you need a bit more space or the sofa bed for a third guest.
Value: A night in one of the Qbi roomswill run you between £75-£250 depending on when you go, availability, and room type. This is quite a good rate for the neighborhood, and far aesthetically superior to any hostel or standard hotel. I will admit that a room without windows makes for a bizarre wakeup call, so it may be worth spending more for the Cosy Room if your budget allows.
Slumber Party
Qbic is a cool place to stay for business travelers, couples, or friends who don’t want to settle for a dull hotel room. I went with a pal who lives in London, but we made a weekend of it and played tourist in Whitechapel. The playful vibe at Qbic inspired us to pick up a bottle of gin, some snacks, nail polish, and a bright blue face mask for a good ol’ fashioned slumber party. Should you choose to do this yourself, photos are optional but wholly encouraged.
Eat Brekkie
The breakfast buffet is well worth £10 with offerings far surpassing a battered up waffle maker. Start your meal with a fresh juice, coffee, or a trusty cuppa tea. The table has a spread of artisanal bread, a variety of cheeses, smoked salmon, charcuterie, overnight oats, and plenty of other things you’d delight at. If you’re into the old standards, there is also a good spread of cereal and fruit to choose from.
Bike + Wander
East London is one of our favorite parts of London. Take advantage of the free bike rentals at Qbic or simply get out in the neighborhood on foot to see what’s around. Just a short walk away, you can find spots for Sunday roast or super authentic ethnic food, thumb through vinyls at the record store, or scope out the street art throughout Shoreditch.
