"We are certainly proud of our General Steel building. 100 years from now our wood frame house will have problems, but our General Steel building won't!"

Dave, Monument, CO Success Stories Archive (10)

“We are certainly proud of our General Steel building. 100 years from now our wood frame house will have problems, but our General Steel building won’t! We put up the building a couple years ago and still haven’t finished everything around the outside, so in some ways it will look better after next summer. 1 and 1/2″ rock out the first 3 feet from the foundation is only around 1/3 of the building so far and that will go all the way around. The concrete pad I built halfway down the south side will hold two 55 gallon blue barrels to collect rainwater from that side of the roof for the 6 raised garden beds you can see in this picture. The pad will get faced with the same stone veneer I’ve put on the exposed foundation walls all around. PVC pipe is already in from that pad to each of the garden beds. We watered them from a well last summer, but this year the water will come from our GenSteel building’s roof. One inch of rain provides 600 gallons of water off that half of the roof. I guess we really don’t want to publicize that though, as the state’s rules on collecting rainwater are that it can only be done from buildings that are lived in. I don’t collect any rainwater off our house, so morally I have no problem doing this. My neighbors have admired the building and two have put up steel outbuildings since. Now with your referral offer, I’ll put on my salesman hat the next time a neighbor asks me about the steel building!”

  • "Joanie was very helpful and had the details I needed to budget for a steel garage. Thank you General Steel for providing competent and caring customer service."

    Daniel, CO

“Joanie was very helpful and had the details I needed to budget for a potential steel garage. I say potential because we may attach the garage to the existing house and will use standard wood framing but if the garage is not attached, a steel building may be best for our location. I do not intend to seek assistance from other companies because of the positive feedback on the internet. Thank you General Steel for providing competent and caring customer service.”
