Our baristas are responsible for

Assistant Store Managers

Our assistant store managers are responsible for

  • Assisting the store manager in executing store operations
  • Supervising a team of store partners to create and maintain the Starbucks Experience
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction and product quality
  • Supporting the store manager in implementing company programs

We’d love to hear from people with

  • Two years of progressively responsible related experience, including one year of customer service experience
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • The ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment

Store Managers

Our store managers are responsible for

  • Leading a team of store partners to maintain the Starbucks Experience
  • Managing the overall operation of the store including supervising and directing the workforce and making staffing decisions
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction and product quality
  • Managing the store’s financial performance, safety and security

We’d love to hear from people with

  • Three years of progressive responsibility related experience, including one year of supervisory experience
  • Strong organisational, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • The ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to coach and mentor team partners

Barista Basics
Training Program

The Barista Basics Training Program provides the initial training for a newly hired barista on essential skills and the knowledge required of the barista role at Starbucks Coffee Australia. Through the use of simple and intuitive tools, skills are taught through one-on-one and on-the-job training. It is a highly effective learning experience for a new barista that quickly enhances confidence and competence in delivering the Starbucks Experience.

Shift Supervisor
Training Program

The Shift Supervisor Training Program focuses on the basics of people management: supervisory skills, floor supervision, cash controller responsibilities, ensuring the delivery of the Starbucks Experience and more. This program includes training on a shift supervisor’s responsibilities for running a shift and the additional responsibilities for supporting the store manager in running an effective store. The program uses a combined delivery method of one-on-one, eLearning and on-the-job training.

Retail Management
Training Program

(Assistant Store Manager or Above)

The Retail Management Training Program is designed to help prepare for the first six months in a management role within Starbucks Coffee Australia. It contains information on effective management practices and includes topics on problem solving, improving performance, and managing the Starbucks Experience, labour, inventory and maximising business outcomes. The program uses a combined delivery method of one-on-one and in-store application.
